All inmates at oldest central prison vaccinated against COVID-19

All inmates at the central prison at Jagannath dewal have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The prison houses a total of 3,215 prisoners, said jailor Bed Nidhi Adhikari. New prisoners at the prison would be administered COVID-19 vaccines soon, he said.

Eight inmates at the prison died from the infection during the first wave of the infection, he said, adding that however, there is no death record from the virus during the second wave. Spanning 42 ropanis of lands, the oldest prison was established in 1971 BS. A hospital has also been established inside the prison for treatment of prisoners.
