Locals of Purano Baneshwor area in Kathmandu were briefly panicked as the security personnel including a bomb disposal squad of the Nepali Army cordoned off an eye centre on the day when women across the country have been celebrating Haritalika Teej festival.
A team of police personnel and a bomb disposal squad reached Matrika Eye Center after they got information that an improvised explosive device (IED) was found planted in its building this morning.
Matrika Eye Center located in Purano Baneshwor reportedly got a phone call at around 10:00 am today. "We thought it was a bomb hoax at first. The unknown caller on the phone said that there was a bomb planted in the hospital. when we checked around, we found an object with a light blinking in a toilet on the third floor of the building," Dr Kishore Raj Pradhan, Refractive Surgeon at the hospital told NepalNews.
The police were immediately informed about the object found in the toilet of the clinic. Subsequently, a team of police personnel and a bomb disposal squad of the Nepali Army arrived at the site.
However, duty officer at Teku-based Metropolitan Police Range informed that it was just a bomb hoax.
