Export rise by 16.5 percent in five months

KATHMANDU: The foreign trade recording a negative trend for long has witnessed a positive development lately.

The data released by the Customs Department showed that the import increased by 3 percent while export by 16.5 percent in the first five months (Saun-Mangsir) of the current fiscal year.

The export worth in the five months was Rs 73.20 billion while it was of Rs 63.54 billion in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

However, Nepal has incurred the trade loss of Rs 587 billion in the first five months of this fiscal year. It is the increase by 4.21 percent as compared to the last year.

The largest import is petroleum product. During the past five months, Nepal imported the petroleum products of Rs42. 17 billion during this period.
