Chilime-Trishuli transmission line and substation in operation

KATHMANDU: The Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV transmission line has come into operation from today.

 The 28-kilometer transmission line starts from Chilime Substation at Thambuchet, Amachodingmo Rural Municipality of Rasuwa to Trishuli Substation at Pahrebensi, Kispang Rural Municipality of Nuwakot.

  The Chilime-Trishuli 220 KV transmission line will transmit the power produced by the hydropower projects built and under-construction on the Trishuli River and its tributaries into the national grid. It has the capacity to transmit about 1,200 megawatts of electricity.

  The Chilime-Trishuli project was completed with investments from the Government of Nepal and a grant from the German Development Bank (KFW). Concessional loan was also received from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

 A total of 76 towers have been constructed for the 28 km long transmission line. The transmission line has been constructed in an area ranging from 680 to 2600 meters above sea level.
