CIAA moves SC against Special Court's verdict on Tax Settlement Commission members
Kathmandu, Jan 9: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has moved the Supreme Court against the Special Court's verdict in relation to three members of the then Tax Settlement Commission.
The CIAA has filed an appeal at the SC against the then Tax Settlement Commission office-bearers including LD (Lumba Dhowj) Mahat, Umesh Prasad Dhakal and Chunamani Sharma stating that the Special Court's decision on penalty against the three was insufficient for the wrongdoings they committed.
Earlier, the CIAA had lodged the case at the Special Court claiming Rs 11.2 billion in fine against the three but the Special Court issued a verdict announcing Rs 4.86 billion in fine to the three.
The Special Court had sentenced nine years one month in jail to Chair Mahat and nine years in jail to members Umesh Prasad Dhakal and Chunamani Sharma Dhakal.
The CIAA has shared its reservation in 10 different points on the Special Court's verdict.
