Police on Wednesday arrested a couple allegedly involved in trafficking of 1.7 kg of hashish in Chandragiri Municipality-2 of Kathmandu district.
The arrested have been identified as Parangwa Tamang (36) and his wife Rupa Sherpa (28) of Syaphru in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa district.
A team of police personnel deployed from Nagdhunga-based Metropolitan Police Sector arrested Sherpa after confiscating the controlled drug from her possession. Sherpa was travelling on a Tata Sumo vehicle (NA 1 JA 6619) heading towards Kathmandu from Rasuwa. During the interrogation, she told police that her husband had sent the hashish.
Subsequently, police tracked Tamang and arrested him. He was riding on a scooter (State 3-02-014 PA 6219) heading towards Kathmandu.
Further investigation into the case is underway, informed police informed.
