2023 Aug 31, 18:45, Kathmandu

The District Administration Office, Kathmandu had announced that it would provide range of public services even during the public holidays, but it sees almost no arrival of service seekers.

DAO, Kathmandu had decided in April early this year to provide services on 18 types of public holidays. As per decision, distribution of citizenships, passport, and national ID card would continue as other normal days.

In line with the decision, DAO, Kathmandu remained open today, but it saw dismal arrival of service seekers. Assistant Chief District Officer Khadga Bahadur Shrestha shared that the office was ready to distribute passports to 73 persons, but only 28 persons visited the office.

On a normal day, nearly 200 service seekers visit DAO, Kathmandu for passport. Similarly, number of the people seeking national ID cards from the office ranges from 120 to 200. Today, only five of such service seekers visited the office.

"All of the civil servants in the office are on duty, but service seekers do not turn up," he said, adding that it might be because the service seekers are not still informed well about it.

The DAO, Kathmandu remains open on different public holidays as Chandi purnima, Buddha Jayanti, Gaijatra, Shreekrishna Janmastami, Indrajatra, Ghatasthapana, Christmas Day, Tamu Lhosar, Bakar Eid, Ghode Jatra, Mahashivaratri, Women's Day, Bhoto jatra.
