KATHMANDU: Durga Prasai, a medical entrepreneur arrested for spreading confusion on social media with serious allegations against Prime Minister KP Oli, has had his detention extended for an additional five days by the Kathmandu District Court.
Prasai appeared before the court today to request an extension of his detention. Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari's bench granted the police's request to extend his detention and investigation for another five days, as confirmed by Cyber Bureau spokesperson SP Deepak Raj Awasthi.
Arrested from his Bhaktapur residence on Tuesday, Prasai was presented in court today. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) had handed him over to the Cyber Bureau for further questioning.
On Monday, Prasai had shared forged documents online, alleging that Prime Minister Oli had invested 32.5 billion Nepali rupees in a Cambodian telecom company. His arrest followed the circulation of these documents on social media, which made serious claims against the Prime Minister.
