MYAGDI: As many as 173,000 tourists have visited Mustang in two months. According to the District Police Office, a total of 144,155 domestic and 28,976 foreign tourists visited Mustang from September 17 to November 15.
Public Information Officer at the office, Police Inspector Bishal Adhikari informed that 59,831 tourists entered Mustang in the month of Asoj (17 September to 16 October) and 113,300 in the month of Kartik (17 October to 15 November) by air and land. The police keep records of people entering Ghasa by road and Jomsom airport check post through air route.
According to hotel entrepreneurs, a tourist spends minimum Rs 15,000 on an average while visiting Mustang.
Chairperson of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality, Mohan Singh Lalchan said that transactions worth Rs 2.59 billion were made by the tourists who entered the area in two months from mid-September to mid-November.
Tourism and Industry Office Mustang Chief Prem Prasad Poudel said 325 hotels in Mustang have the capacity to accommodate around 7,000 tourists a day. Almost all the hotels in Mustang had full occupancy during the Dashain Tihar.
It may be noted that a total of 427,000 tourists visited Mustang in the fiscal year 2080\81 and 379,767 in 2079\80 BS.
