Ex-British Gurkha soldiers have called on Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba and requested her to take initiatives for their equal treatment, equal wages and facilities from the British Government.
A delegation of the British Gurkha Satyagraha United Struggle Committee UK-Nepal met with Minister Rana today and made such an appeal adding that they were not getting benefits in par with their British counterparts.
On the occasion, Minister Rana said that the British Gurkha soldiers have made immense contributions and sacrifices for the British Government and pledged to take initiatives for equal services and facilities.
Chairperson of the Committee, Bhim Bahadur Tawa Limbu, recalled that they were agitating for 34 years for their rights and the increased benefits announced in 2013 and 2021 were not in their favor.
Limbu argued that the British Government was not ready even to implement the deals made in the past and asked to form a high-level committee under the leadership of Nepal's minister to address the matter.
