A team of police personnel deployed from Narcotic Control Bureau, Koteshwor arrested five persons in possession of illegal pharmaceutical drugs from different places in Kathmandu, on Monday.
The arrested have been identified as Kamala Lama (40) of Bagh Bazaar, KMC-28, Govinda Poddar (30) of Bihar, India who had currently been living in a rented room in Teku, KMC-12, Man Bahadur Tamang (32), resident of Chautara in Sangachokgadhi Municipality-11, Suwash Shrestha (33), resident of Namobuddha Municipality-8 in Kavrepalanchok district and Sita Rana Magar (36) of Temal Rural Municipality-6 in Kavre.
Police seized 32 ampoules of Buprenorphine (nurofen), 50 ampoules of Buprenorphine (Lupigesic), 191 ampoules of Diazepam and cash Rs 40,000 from the possession of Lama. Likewise, 11 ampoules of Buprenorphine (nurofen), 12 ampoules of Diazepam and nine ampoules of Phenergan were seized from the possession of Indian national Poddar. Police confiscated five ampoules of each Diazepam and Buprenorphine from the possession of Tamang while 187 ampoules of Diazepam, 209 ampoules of Buprenorphine, 141 mpoules of Phenergan and cash Rs 50,500 from the possession of Shrestha. Police seized 26 ampoules of each Buprenorphine, Diazepam and Phenergan.
They will be tried under the Narcotics Control Act, police said.
