Four arrested with counterfeit notes in Kathmandu

Police have arrested four persons from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16 New Bazaar Medical Chowk Area on Wednesday afternoon along with 294 counterfeit Nepali notes of Rs 1,000 denomination.

Among the arrested are Prithvi Prasad Sah, 28, of Rautahat Gaur Municipality-12, Mohammad Musraf Ali, 27, of Rautahat Rajpur Municipality-3, Asraf Ali Shahid, 30, of Rautahat Rajpur Municipality-6 and Mohammad Shamsad Alam, 28, of Rautahat Gaur Municipality-9.

Based on the information that counterfeit notes were being illegally traded in the area, the police deployed by the Metropolitan Crime Branch found the counterfeit Nepali notes and arrested them.

The department has stated that further investigation is underway in this regard.
