The construction work of the roof of Basantapur-based Kasthamandap, with historical and archeological importance, has begun. Roof construction has started after the completion of other reconstruction works of Kasthamandap that was devastated by the 2015 earthquake.
Chairperson of Kasthamandap Reconstruction Committee Rajesh Shakya shared that the roof topping of the heritage has begun using indigenous technology. The heritage was constructed in the seventh century.
“The task of reconstruction of Kasthamandap heritage is continuous. It will still take some months to complete the reconstruction”, he informed. The reconstruction of Kasthamandap would be carried out by preserving the historical value of Kasthamandap- the indigenous heritage of country capital Kathmandu, Shakya said.
He further claimed that reconstructing Kasthamandap heritage through old technology is an example for the world. So far 115 million rupees have been spent for the reconstruction of the heritage.
