The Lalitpur Metropolitan City Office was unable to announce its budget as a majority of the members boycotted the session. The municipal session that had been scheduled for 11 am today to announce the budget could not be held as representatives of CPN UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) did not participate.
The session was boycotted because Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan did not allow discussions to be held on the policies and programmes of the metropolitan which were announced on Wednesday.
The mayor, deputy mayor and 10 ward chairpersons of Lalitpur Metropolitan City are members of Nepali Congress while 14 ward chairpersons are members of CPN UML. Similarly, four ward chairpersons are members of CPN (Maoist Centre). Meanwhile, one of the ward chairpersons is an independent candidate.
