Prohibitory order extended till Sep 16

The meeting of the Chief District Officers (CDOs) in three districts of Kathmandu Valley today has decided that educational institutions will not be allowed to conduct physical classes due to the present situation. 

The CDOs have decided to extend the present prohibitory order that was going to end today midnight till September 16. The prohibitory period has been issued as per the decision of the Council of Ministers, Section 4 of COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance, 2078, and Sub-section 3 of Section 6 of Local Administration Act, 2028.

The meeting has also decided to open the cinema hall from Thursday. Along with this, recreational places, gym, sports, beauty parlours, salons and other closed businesses will be operated. 

Chief District Officer of Lalitpur Dhundi Raj Niraula informed that the decision was taken after analyzing the COVID-19 infection rate.

Within the provision of smart lockdown for the operation of schools, the local levels can decide to operate the schools by coordinating with the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center.

The order issued by the Kathmandu district administration after the meeting states that the educational institutions will not be allowed to conduct classes in physical attendance with effect from September 1 to mid-September.

Unnecessary gathering of people, crowds, mass gathering, and organising festivities, feasts have been banned as per the order.

The festivals that fall in the prohibitory period will have to be celebrated symbolically and in the minimum presence of revellers.

The financial, social and business activities and transactions being carried out by persons, groups and institutions have to be carried out maintaining health safety measures.

Likewise, the transportation of goods has been banned from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The transportation of construction materials for both private and public purposes have been allowed from 9:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

People who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or are under contact tracing have been urged to immediately contact the local level, district hospital for the free antigen and RT-PCR tests. People have been urged to avoid crowds and take health safety measures.

The security agencies will conduct regular and emergency monitoring to ensure the implementation of the prohibitory order. During the monitoring, if anybody found disobeying the prohibitory order will be punished as per COVID-19 Risk Management Ordinance, 2078, according to Kathmandu's Chief District Officer (CDO), Kali Prasad Parajuli.

The provisions made in this prohibitory order can be revised anytime if the COVID-19 infection increases.
