Police arrested a youth accused of snatching a gold necklace from a pedestrian in Mitranagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan-26.
The accused has been identified as Rabi Pariyar (24), a local resident of Dhading district, who had been currently residing in the Tarkeshwor area.
Pariyar allegedly snatched a gold necklace weighing two tolas belonging to a 50-year-old woman, a resident of Dharche Rural Municipality-5 in Gorkha district.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Gongabu-based Metropolitan Police Division immediately took action and nabbed Pariyar from the Gongabu Buspark. The police also recovered the gold necklace from his possession.
Meanwhile, police have arrested five persons on charge of looting from Mhepi in Kathmandu Metropolitan-26. They were altogether 10/12 persons involved in looting.
On Monday night, some 10/12 unknown persons allegedly looted Rs 150,000 and one mobile phone from 39-year-old Dil Kumar Rai's residence, a local resident of Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality-1 in Khotang district. They also beat up Rai while looting his house.
Acting on a tip-off, Sohrakhutte-based Metropolitan Police Circle nabbed five of them involved in the incident.
Injured Rai is receiving treatment at Maharajgunj-based Teaching Hospital.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, informed the police.
