The Supreme Court has announced the dates on which the various writ petitions have been filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR).
A total of 30 writs have been filed at the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the HoR. Of the total writs, 19 writs have sought a hearing through the general bench while the remaining 11 writs have sought a hearing through a constitutional bench.
According to the Supreme Court, the date for the hearings of the 19 writs seeking an interim order has been fixed for May 27. Similarly, the date for the writs that have been filed seeking a hearing from a constitutional bench has been set for May 28.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers had dissolved the House of Representatives and announced the dates for mid-term elections on May 22.
Meanwhile, 146 lawmakers of the opposition parties had also filed a writ on May 24 against President Bhandari’s move to dissolve the HoR and announce the dates for the mid-term elections.
