A copy of the world-famous Mona Lisa painting has been sold for 210,000 euros at an auction in Paris. Leonardo Da Vinci’s original painting was bought by French King Francois I in 1518 and can be found in Paris’s Louvre museum.
Mona Lisa is popular for the mysterious smile of the young lady in the picture and is considered as one of the most famous picture in the world today. The auction for a copy of the painting began on Tuesday at 1,600 euros. Officials of the auction expected the painting to sell for between 150,000 and 200,000 euros.
Last June, a European collector bought a copy of another 17th-century portrait of the Mona Lisa at Christie's in Paris for 2.9 million euros as record says.
