Indian climber creates record on Annapurna

An Indian climber has set a record on Annapurna Himal, popularly known as the Killer Mountain. Skaljang Rigzin, 41, of Ladakh, India, climbed Mount Annapurna without supplemental oxygen.

An Indian climber has set a record on Annapurna Himal, popularly known as the Killer Mountain. Skaljang Rigzin, 41, of Ladakh, India, climbed Mount Annapurna without supplemental oxygen. He has become the first person in India to achieve this feat this spring.

According to climbing records, he is the first Indian climber to stand on a peak of 8091 meters without using supplementary oxygen.

Many climbers have lost their lives while climbing this mountain which is considered to be the most difficult mountains among the 8000 meter peaks.

According to Babu Sherpa, Managing Director of Peak Promotion, Nepali climbers Kami Sherpa and Urjen Sherpa had climbed in the same team.

On the same day, Bharat Thammineni, Palkesh Kalma and Baljit Kaur also reached top of the Annapurna along with other climbers.
