India reports 264,000 COVID Cases, 315 deaths in 24 hrs

India has reported 264,202 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said today. The new cases mark another day of jump in cases, from the 247,000 cases reported yesterday. A total of 5,753 Omicron cases have been reported in India so far.

The positivity rate was at 14.8 percent, which is more than previous day's 13.11%. Similarly, weekly positivity rate was recorded at 11.83 percent. The rates are expected to rise even further.

India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also reported 315 new deaths, taking the total death toll in India to 485,350. There are 1,272,073 active cases in India at the present.

The national COVID-19 recovery rate in India has decreased even further to 95.2 percent.
