More crimes recorded in Singapore in H1

 The reported crime cases increased by 5.4 percent to 10,080 in Singapore in the first half of this year, the city-state's police forces said on Friday.

The police noted that the crimes of concern included outrage of modesty, voyeurism, shop theft and theft in dwelling.

Shop theft cases increased to 1,820 in the first six months, accounting for 18.1 percent of total physical crime cases. The police also recorded 1,010 theft in dwelling cases, 757 outrage of modesty cases, and 224 voyeurism cases by June.

The total number of reported physical crime cases remained lower than the figure before the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, the police added.

The number of scam and cybercrime cases increased by 69.4 percent to 24,525 from January to June, according to a previous statement by Singaporean police.
