KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and United States (US) Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, have held a meeting on Sunday.
In a meeting held at Chairperson Dahal's residence at Khumaltar in Lalitpur, they discussed a wide range of matters relating to mutual interests, according to Dahal's Secretariat.
Stating that Nepal and the USA had a longstanding relation, Chairperson Dahal expressed his confidence that such visits and meetings would contribute to fostering mutual relations.
Apprising the visiting Assistant Secretary of State Lu that Nepal's peace process was going to be concluded on national consensus and with unique approach, Dahal thanked to the international community for their goodwill.
In response, Lu stated that Nepal's progress was a cause for happiness for them and pledged to bolster all kinds of cooperation and goodwill.
Expressing his happiness over the concluding the peace process in Nepal, he acknowledged this development to be good news for the international community.
Furthermore, he asserted that the government of the United States was continuously supporting Nepal for its economic development.
He added that the support was not only extended to Nepal at the government level but also the people of America had been supporting Nepal's developmental endeavors.
It may be noted that Assistant Secretary of State Lu arrived in Nepal on Sunday itself in connection to his visit to South Asian countries.
