Nepali Congress leader Nain Singh Mahar has said that educational institutions should be closed for 15 days considering the risk of the new variant of coronavirus, Omicron.
At an interaction organized by the Central Committee of the Tharu Students' Union on 'Omicron and the Crisis It Causes in the Education Sector', he stressed the need to protect children from the threat of omicron in the country.
"We have not been able to provide vaccines to all children under the age of 18," said Mahar. COVID-19 infection has intensified in neighboring India, and Nepal is also at high risk. In such a situation, it would be better to close the educational institutions for 15 days to protect the children.”
As health precautions and vaccination are the best options for controlling the corona pandemic, the government should focus on making the vaccine easily accessible to all, he said. Educationists and education stakeholders who participated in the program also suggested that closing schools for a few days would be the best option to protect children from another wave of coronavirus.
