100,620 dose of Pfizer vaccine has arrived in Nepal form the US. The COVID vaccines provided under the COVAX facility by World Health Organization (WHO) has arrived in Kathmandu from Qatar Airways today.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) informed that the Pfizer vaccine will be administered to people around the age of 12–18 and chronic disease patients.
The vaccine will be used as a trial in Nepal. UNICEF has provided 4 fridges with 100 liter capacity for the storage of Pfizer vaccines as the vaccines should be stored in -70 degree temperature.
The government has also signed for the purchase of 6,000.000 dose of Pfizer vaccines for children below 18 years of age. Preparations for storage of the vaccines are under way. Before this in July, America had sent 1.730,000 dose of J&J vaccine.
