There is lack of 'Jiwan jal' (electrolyte solution) in Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital. Despite the increase in the number of patients suffering from viral fever and diarrhea, the hospital has been facing shortage of electrolyte for a year now.

Sarita Sharma, who brought her son to the hospital after suffering from diarrhea, complained that she could not the jiwan jal. The hospital's pharmacy in-charge, Santosh Subedi said that they have been facing a shortage of electrolyte for the past few days.

"We have to change the procurement act to bring medicines on time. We can't buy medicines immediately," he explained. The pharmacy is short of not only the electrolyte but also other essential medicines, including thyronum 25. Subedi says that such problem will be repeated until the procurement act is changed.
