Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has repeatedly expressed its public commitment to provide service to the service recipients easily. It has also made a policy to complete any work within seven days. NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising instructed the service recipients not to make any unnecessary demands and said that work should be done and work should not be done now.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today arrested the head of the substation working at NEA Kathmandu Grid Division Patan Lalitpur with a bribe of Rs. 140,000. Sub-station chief Som Prasad Pahadi was arrested by a team from the Commission's Tangal on the basis of information that the NEA had solicited a bribe from the service recipients to move the electricity pole.
According to the spokesperson of the commission Narayan Prasad Risal, Pahadi was arrested from the office premises while taking bribes. The accused Pahadi is being further investigated.
