21 missing in floods of Sindhupalchowk's Melamchi River

The flood caused by the incessant rain in Melamchi River in Helambu Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchowk district on June 15 has swept away 92 houses while 21 people are still missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Meanwhile, 2 Chinese nationals, one Indian and a 63-year-old local man have died in the floods taking the death tally in the area to four. Six persons who were injured during the floods are receiving treatment at B&B Hospital in Lalitpur.

The floods have also washed away seven trout farms.

The concrete bridge connecting Ward No. 10 and 11 of Melamchi Municipality has also been washed away. Similarly, the suspension bridge in Chiuri Kharka and the concrete bridge on the road in Timbu have also been swept away.
