3,442 new COVID cases reported on Monday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Monday reported 3,442 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 303,561. Additionally, 114 persons have tested positive for the virus in the Antigen test conducted in the past 24 hours.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 1,912 new cases of coronavirus infection — 1,567 in Kathmandu, 223 in Lalitpur and 122 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours.

As many as 378 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 277,951 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Monday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 91.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,176 with the report of 12 more deaths from COVID-19 of which seven persons died in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 22,434 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Sunday had reported 3,032 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 300,119.

As of Monday, a total of 2,417,417 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 22,434 persons staying in isolation while 65 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 147.23 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,249,168 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 3:17 pm, on Monday, April 26, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
