The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Thursday reported 4,831 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 317,530. Additionally, 97 persons have tested positive for the virus in the Antigen test conducted in the past 24 hours.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 1,561 new cases of coronavirus infection — 1,127 in Kathmandu, 252 in Lalitpur and 182 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours.
As many as 888 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 280,167 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Thursday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 88.2 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,246 with the report of 35 more deaths from COVID-19 of which 26 persons died in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 34,117 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday had reported 4,774 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 312,699.
As of Thursday, a total of 2,458,565 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 34,117 persons staying in isolation while 59 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 149.66 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,290,578 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:15 pm, on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
