The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Saturday reported 5,706 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 328,893. Additionally, 57 persons have tested positive for the virus in the Antigen test conducted in the past 24 hours.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 2,495 new cases of coronavirus infection — 1,932 in Kathmandu, 355 in Lalitpur and 208 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours.
As many as 1,287 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 282,382 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Saturday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 85.9 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,298 with the report of 19 more deaths from COVID-19 of which seven persons died in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 43,213active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Friday had reported 5,657 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 323,187.
As of Saturday, a total of 2,488,359 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 43,213 persons staying in isolation while 67 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 151.44 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,320,137 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 4:28 pm, on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
