554 coronavirus cases on Friday: MoHP

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Friday reported 554 new cases of coronavirus in the country. With the addition of the new cases, the number has risen to 264,159.

Of the infected, 188 are reported to be females and 366 males. 

In the past 24 hours, 585 people diagnosed with the infection have recovered as per the data shared by the MoHP.

Altogether, 257,229 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. 

Currently, the country has 5,021 active cases with 97.4 per cent recovery rate.

The ministry also reported the death of six persons from the disease in the past 24 hours. With this the nationwide death toll from the disease has reached 1,909.

A total of 1,974,561 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests have been carried out in the country as of Friday.

Likewise, a total of 5,021 people are reported to be in isolation while 338 others in quarantine facility

More than 87.42 million people have been reported to be infected by the virus worldwide and 1,888,982​ have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
