755 houses destroyed by earthquake in Myagdi reconstructed

Reconstruction of 755 private houses in Myagdi that had been destroyed in an earthquake six years ago has finally completed. According to the District Project Implementation Unit (Housing and Building), 76.57 percent of the beneficiaries who have signed an agreement for the reconstruction of houses destroyed due to the 2072 BS earthquake have received the last and third installment grant.

Chief of the project Birbal Sunar informed that out of 986 people who took the first installment, 755 have so far been able to rebuild their private houses. "Out of 1,065 beneficiaries identified, 79 did not sign the agreement," he said. "One hundred and eighty-seven beneficiaries have not yet come for the second installment grant," he adds.

Project Chief Sunar said that those who do not come for the third installment grant will be removed from the list of beneficiaries after completing the reconstruction of their houses within this month. Reconstruction of technical houses was started at every local level of Myagdi from Mangsir 2074 BS. There is a procedure to provide Rs. 50,000 in the first installment, Rs. 150,000 in the second installment after DPC and Rs. 100,000 in the last installment after the construction of the building. There are 24 people in the process of taking the second installment and the third installment. Those who did not come to collect the second installment after starting the reconstruction of the house with the first installment have been pointed out.

Baisari in Raghuganga Gaonpalika-2 and Annapurna Gaonpalika-8 has been identified as risky settlements and a maximum of Rs. 200,000 has been provided to three landless households to purchase land. Similarly, one person from Piple has also received a grant for land purchase.

Two families of Singa of Beni Municipality-4 have been resettled by constructing houses on public land as per the decision of the District Facilitation Committee. Of the 82 beneficiaries of the incineration, 40 beneficiaries have been rehabilitated.

The 18.54 km Gharkhola-Chitre Road Up gradation Project operated by NEA has achieved 56 percent physical progress so far. Construction of a motor bridge at Gharkhola under Pokhrebagar-Pauddhar road has been completed 22 percent. Construction of the 25-meter-long bridge began a year after the contract was signed last February.
