The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Saturday reported 768 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 283, 658.
Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 395 new cases of coronavirus infection — 312 in Kathmandu, 74 in Lalitpur and nine in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 244 males and 151 females have been reported to have contracted the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
As many as 226 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 275,038 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Saturday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 97 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,075 with the report of two deaths from COVID-19 that occurred in the past 24 hours and three others earlier. Presently, there are 5,545 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Friday had reported 836 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 282,890.
As of Saturday, a total of 2,340,417 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 5,545 persons staying in isolation while 74 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 139.96 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,138,725 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 3:21 pm, on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
