The cheese production centres located at Langtang, Gatlang, Chandanbari and Dhunchelek have resumed their production from June 15 and 2,121 kilogrammes of cheese has been produced.

Though preparation was made to produce cheese from April 14, it was delayed by two months following the death of the Chief of Dhunche centre from Coronavirus infection and prohibitory orders imposed by the local administration.

Milk of 1,900 yaks is supplied at the four cheese centres of Rasuwa under Dairy Development Corporation.

Chief of Langtang Cheese Centre, Gyalbo Tamang, said that around 2,150 litres of milk are collected every day. Farmers selling yak milk get Rs 100 per litre of milk and 87 farmers have been benefitted from this.

Chandanbari Cheese Centre has moved ahead with a target to produce 7,000 kg of cheese and 1,500 kg of butter, as well as 6,000 kg of cheese and 2,000 kg of butter by Langtang cheese centre as per DDC’s direction to run the centres only for three months.

Similarly, Dhunche centre has set a target to produce 8,000 kg of cheese and 2,400 kg of butter while Gatalang centre has been producing cheese and butter without any target.
