JANAKPUR: Chief Minister of Madhesh Province Satish Kumar Singh has said that Chhat festival is 'very significant' from a cultural and spiritual point of view.
At a programme organized by Dhanusha Chamber of Commerce at Janakpurdham in Dhanusha on Monday, CM Singh acknowledged the Festival as a profound expression of faith in vital live-giving forces in nature and as a symbol of harmony against various forms of discriminations.
During the programme, the Chief Minister, along with other participants, distributed Chhat Puja items to a total of 100 destitute female devotees preparing to observe the festival dedicated to the Sun God. He also extended his gratitude towards the Chamber of Commerce for giving continuity to the culture of providing new clothes and Chhat Puja materials to impoverished devotees.
Similarly, Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Manoj Kumar Shah remarked that the Chhat festival of Janakpurdham was unique and special. He underscored the cleanliness of Janakpurdham to make the festival celebration experience more pleasant.
He shared that plans were afoot to implement a cleanliness campaign in Janakpurdham in coordination with the Madhesh province government. ----
