KATHMANDU: The Christian community is observing Christmas Day to honor the birth of Jesus Christ.
It is believed that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, Israel, approximately 2024 years ago on December 25.
Christians regard Christ as the giver of three key gifts: salvation, love, and peace, and the celebration today acknowledges all three.
The day is recognized as Love Day for those who spread love, Peace Day for those who promote peace, and Liberation Day for those who bring freedom.
To mark the occasion, the government has declared today a public holiday.
Popular tourist destinations such as Thamel, Bouddha, Pokhara, Sauraha, and others are experiencing a significant influx of visitors for the Christmas festivities.
