CM Yadav calls for collective efforts among three-tier govt. to address nutrition deficiency

Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Saroj Kumar Yadav, emphasized on collective efforts among the three-tier government to resolve nutrition deficiency in Madhesh Province.

In a roundtable discussion organized here by the Rural Women's Development and Unity Centre (RUWDUC) and World Vision International in coordination with the provincial government, CM Yadav viewed that the sole effort of any government would not contribute to the nutrition deficiency prevailing in Madhesh Province.

Yadav expressed that the provincial government was ready to collaborate and coordinate with organizations working to improve the nutrition situation in the Province.

"Improving nutrition level in Madhesh Province has emerged as a big challenge. The provincial government is committed towards addressing the problems related to it and thereby protecting the fundamental rights of the people of the Province," assured the CM.

Similarly, Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, leader of Nepali Congress and member of House of Representatives, reminded that the nutrition for expecting and new mothers should not be overlooked while discussing nutrition for the children.

Deuba urged one and all to pay a special attention towards ensuring adequate nutrition for new mothers, adding lack of nutrition could make new mothers weak and the babies, thus, could not become healthier.

According to her, the budget should be allocated on the basis of population for the development of the Province considering to the fact that the Province lagged behind the Human Development Index.

Similarly, provincial Minister for Health and Population, Birendra Singh, shared that preparation was afoot to declare Madhesh Province fully vaccinated within a few days.

Of the 136 local levels in the Province, preparation has been made to declare 18 local levels as fully vaccinated local levels, he said.

He said that the provincial government, being concerned over the decreasing quality of the public healthcare services in the Province, was working towards enhancing the quality lately.

Likewise, senior doctors Dr RN Jha and Balram Mishra said that it was a good news that patients could avail treatment of cancer in Janakpurdham now onwards. They said that the concerned sides should be serious towards rendering quality and reliable treatment.

On the occasion, a blood-donation programme was organized where over 30 people donated blood.

Present in the programme were Joint-Secretary at the National Planning Commission, Dr Kiran Rupakheti, Province Policy Commission Vice-Chairperson Nathu Prasad Chaudhary among others, provincial ministers and stakeholders.
