Committee formed to investigate Nakhhu Jail prisoner escape

An investigation committee has been formed under the coordination of Superintendent of Police Devendra Bahadur Pal to investigate the incident of escape of a prisoner who was serving imprisonment in the Gulm Nakhkhu Jail of Nepal Police, Lalitpur.

31-year-old Bhola Budhathoki, who lives in Pilpung Rural Municipality-2 of Ramechhap and is currently in Nepal Police's Nakhkhu Prison, who is serving a prison term, escaped from the hospital on Wednesday when he was taken to a teaching hospital in Maharajganj for treatment. He was serving a 20-year prison sentence since 2072.

After the incident, the head of Nepal Police's Nakhkhu was removed from his duties and the police personnel assigned to protect the prisoners were also suspended, said the spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh Rathore.

According to Superintendent of Police Rathore, Budhathoki, who was absconding, was arrested with handcuffs by the police team deployed from Lalitpur near Luvhu Bus Park of Mahalakshmi Municipality.
