A man who was arrested on a narcotics-related case has escaped from the lock-up in Lahan-based Area Police Office, in Siraha district today.
The escapee has been identified as Pashupati Yadav (35) of Nawarajpur Rural Municipality-1 in Siraha. He was arrested on July 4. He escaped after cutting the grill out of the lock-up gate at around 2:00 am.
Spokesperson of Siraha District Police Office (DPO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subash Budhathoki, informed that a manhunt has been launched to detain Yadav.
Further investigation into the case is underway, DSP Budhathoki said.
Meanwhile, police in the district have arrested nine absconding persons implicated in various cases including murder in the past two weeks, and presented them before the court, informed Budhathoki, DSP of DPO, Siraha.
