Folk culture experts Tulasi Diwas and Dr Chudamani Bandhu have won the ‘Kalibhakta Panta International Folk Literary Prize’. Diwas received the award for the year 2077 BS and Dr Bandhu for this year. The award ceremony for the last year was postponed due to COVID-19 crisis, it is said.
Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi awarded the two in a function organised by the Kalibhakta-Krishna Pant Memorial Foundation Nepal today. They were awarded with Rs 101 thousands each.
Diwas was honoured in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of Nepal’s folklore, literature and culture internationally while Dr Bandhu for his rigorous research and studies about Nepali folk culture and folklore, according to the Foundation.
Panta was born at Limithana of Parbat some 115 years ago and had passed away on 18th February 1992. He had his active participation in movements against the Rana regime and the Panchayat system in the country. He has around a dozen of creations on history, culture, and folk literature in his name.
