Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has urged various transport entrepreneurs' associations to open the advance ticket booking of vehicles in view of the upcoming Badashain festival.

DoTMt Director-General Namraj Ghimire told NepalNews that the department has proposed the opening of transportation booking in advance within the fourth week of September for the upcoming Badadashain festival. This year the Badadashain festival begins on October 7 while the Vijaya Dashami falls on October 15 this year.

However, the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) General Secretary Saroj Sitaula said that the federation has yet to decide whether to open the ticket booking of transportation in advance. He said that the FNNTE has yet to work out on the plan due to prohibitory order and the risk of COVID-19 infection. Sitaula said, "Now that the local levels are authorised to decide on the modality of prohibitory order in coordination with the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre, we are not sure what kind of terms and conditions we have to agree regarding the operation of public transportation during the festivity and the fare of the transportation." "The discussion is ongoing to reach the agreement with the DoTM for opening the ticket booking in advance," the FNNTE General Secretary told NepalNews.

The DoTM Director-General Ghimire was positive about the ongoing discussions being held with the transport entrepreneurs.
