Dura caste should be protected: GA Minister

 Inaugurating the 29th anniversary celebration of the Dura Sewa Samaj organized at Tanahu's Byas Municipality-6 Shishaghat today, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Rajendra Prasad Shrestha said that the culture of Dura caste should be protected.

Minister Shrestha said that the Dura caste should preserve their language and culture and expressed the commitment of the government to help them. Minister Shrestha said that, even though the constitution gave rights to the Dura caste, they could not be implemented. "The Dura caste belonging to the minority should be aware and vigilant for the realization of their rights," said Minister Shrestha.

Patron of the society Bir Bahadur Dura, General Secretary Buddhi Bahadur Dura, President of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Tribes Tanahun, Basundhara Gharti and others spoke on the rights of Duras. Members of the Dura Sewa Samaj of five districts participated in the program.
