Farmers of Baitadi have not yet come to collect the relief subsidy provided by the government.

Farmers have not yet come to collect the relief grant amount for the damage caused to the paddy crop due to the incessant rains from September 16 to October 15. The district administration office has stated that Rs. 800,000 has been received in the district as a relief grant.

It was said that the federal government would distribute relief subsidies to the farmers through the district administration office. But so far no application has been received from the farmers for the relief grant, said Khagendra Bharti, Information Officer at the district administration office. He said, “We have been asked to apply for the relief grant amount. So far, only one farmer has come, for which we have even issued a notice". According to the District Administration Office, 176 farmers at all local levels of the district have lost their crops due to the rains.

Meanwhile, the District Administration Office, Baitadi, has requested the farmers to apply for relief. The federal government has requested the farmers to apply for the relief as they have already sent money for the relief. Information Officer Bharti said that they have been requested to apply as relief will be provided to the affected farmers as per the Rules of Procedure-2078 BS.

Applicants for relief will have to affix a stamp of Rs. 10 along with the affidavit of the ward office and ward recommendation. Similarly, it is said that a police report should be kept along with the recommendation of Agriculture Knowledge Center Baitadi, a copy of the Nepali citizenship certificate, a copy of land ownership certificate, and a bank account application.

Four people were killed due to incessant rains. It is said that the federal government has already given a relief amount of Rs. 200,000 to the family of the deceased.
