Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has stated that the CPN UML will be victorious in the mid-term elections and form the government and thus the budget that has been announced for the next fiscal year 2078/79 will be implemented.
The government at present is being criticised from different quarters for introducing a full budget when the dates for the mid-term elections have already been announced. However, Poudel mentioned that they would again win the mid-term elections and the budget will be implemented.
While addressing an interaction on the budget for fiscal 2078/79 organised by the Society of Economic Journalists – Nepal today, he stated that the people would vote for the CPN UML and it would form the government after the mid-term elections. Poudel stated that some people were going against the budget just for the sake of it. The opposition does not have any factual basis to go against the budget, he commented.
Minister Poudel further stated that telling the government not to announce the budget would amount to telling the government not to do anything in the fight against the coronavirus and not to listen to the people and private sector. He claimed that the budget was announced as per the constitutional provisions and it would be implemented.
The finance minister added that the government will take the responsibility of implementing the budget and urged all not to doubt on whether the government would be able to implement the budget. He informed that a meeting with all the ministers and secretaries will be held today to hold discussions on how the budget could be implemented in a swifter manner.
He also asked everybody not to doubt on whether the mid-term elections would be held on the scheduled dates. He mentioned that the government had to announce the mid-term elections not out of choice but due to compulsion.
