Five houses were gutted in a fire that broke out in Mangsiri of Nalgad municipality-8. The fire reportedly spread from the forest fire in the local Naadhari forest.
In the incident that took place last night, the houses of Ammar Bahadur Singh, Khadka Singh, Bedraj Singh, Chandra Bahadur Singh and Yagya Bahadur Singh were burnt to ashes, according to teacher Manod Sharma of Himalaya basic school. All assets inside the house were damaged while livestock were killed.
In a similar incident on Friday, five houses and 15 cow-sheds were burnt to ashes in Dandakahun of Paiyun rural municipality-6 of Parbat district. The fire from the Dandakahun forest spread to the nearby settlement, engulfing the houses.
The houses of locals Sher Prasad Gautam, Resham Lal Gautam, Nam Prasad Sapkota, Resham Lal Sapkota and Jaya Kala Sapkota were fully gutted in the fire, while the houses of Khadga Prasad Gautam, Ek Narayan Gautam, Cholakanta Sapkota, Chabi Lal Gautam and Umesh Gautam suffered partial damage, according to police inspector at Area Police Office, Hubash Bijaya Kumar Singh.
The fire was put out late at night with the joint effort of armed police and army persons from the district headquarters Kusma Bazaar.
