Former government secretary Bishnu Gopal Risal has passed away. He was 87. He died at the Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur on Thursday. The former secretary was undergoing treatment for pneumonia, according to family sources.
Risal had joined the civil service as Nayab Subba (non-gazetted first-class officer) in the Ministry of Finance in 1958. He retired in 1992 as the Secretary at the Public Service Commission.
Risal has around 24 books on various genres including language, grammar, spiritualism, economy, and administration to his credit. He has also penned a travelogue and a long narrative poem 'Hamro Deshko Chinari'. This narrative poem is also published in English.
Risal is survived by his son. His last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Thursday itself
