Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand on Friday directed the police and local administration to investigate the incident in which a person went missing in the Mahakali River after falling from a tuin (traditional rope bridge) in Darchula district.
Home Secretary, Inspector General of Nepal Police and concerned local administration were directed to probe the incident and bring forth the facts, according to Minister's personal secretary, Narendra KC. The Home Secretary was further asked to coordinate with the Foreign Ministry on it.
According to the local administration, Jay Singh Dhami, 33, went missing in the Mahakali River after the wire snapped while crossing the river from Vyans Rural Municipality-2 of Darchula to reach Pangala of India.
The locals have however blamed that Dhami fell into the river after Seema Surkchhya Bal (SSB) of India pulled the wire while he was crossing.
Assistant Chief District Officer in Darchula, Jyotsna Bhatta, however, maintained it was reported that a person fell into the river after the tuin snapped. But, there was no official information about the SSB pulling the tuin.
She informed the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) that a team of the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police was mobilized in the incident site and even the SSB of India was written to share information about the incident.
