The Halesi-Tuvachung Municipality has increased the salaries of support workers, staff and office assistants working in community schools. The monthly salary of the federal government workers has been increased by Rs.7000

The government had decided to increase the salaries of the support staff and office assistants of the Child Development Center in the current fiscal year program. As per the decision of the government, the salaries of the support workers, staff and office assistants working in all the community schools in the city have been increased, said Mayor Evan Rai.

There are 89 community schools in the municipality which has 11 wards. The school has 54 child development center support workers, 89 office assistants and 12 employees, said Padam Karki, chief of the education department of the municipality.

The government has been providing Rs. 8,000 monthly to the support workers and office assistants of the child development center and Rs. 13,000 to the staff. The municipality has stated that an arrangement has been made to provide additional Rs. 7,000 per month to the employees of all the three levels on behalf of the municipality.

The Nepal Teachers Federation and the Nepal Teachers Association Halesi Tuvachung Municipal Working Committee have thanked the municipality for the decision to increase the salary as prescribed by the government. The two organizations had earlier demanded an increase in their salaries.

Aiselukharka, Barahpokhari, Rawabensi and Sakela municipalities have already increased their salaries in the district which has ten local levels. Five local levels including Diktel Rupakot Mazhuwagadi Municipality, the largest local level of the district, have so far paid their salaries as prescribed by the government.

In the district which has two municipalities and eight villages, the remaining five local levels have not increased their salaries due to lack of resources. The teachers' union in the district has been pressuring to increase the salaries of the support workers, staff and office assistants working in all the community schools.
