Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Shashi Shrestha has distributed land ownership certificates to the homeless Dalits of Makwanpur. She distributed the certificates to Krishna Bahadur Darnal and Tirtha Bahadur Bishwakarma of Ward No. 4 at a program organized by the National Land Commission Makwanpur District Committee in Bagmati Village Municipality of Makwanpur on Friday.
Minister Shrestha said that the distribution of land ownership certificates to landless Dalits and landless squatters has been given first priority under the fundamental right of the constitution. She said, “Distributing land ownership certificates to landless Dalits, landless squatters and unorganized settlers is a national priority of the coalition government. Accordingly, we have started distributing the certificates to those in need."
The village municipality had been inspecting the land for a long time but was unable to distribute it due to lack of government permission. The village municipality has more than 60 percent public land.
