Lamopuchchhare Chanchar, a species of bird in the family Turdidae with a long tail has been spotted for the first time on the riverside in Chitwan National Park.
The species of bird also called 'Long-tailed thrush' with the scientific name Zoothera dixoni are found in subtropical or tropical moist montane forests or tropical high-altitude shrubland according to ornithologists.
Photographer Milang Tamang has taken a snapshot of the bird for the first time. Chairperson of Bird Association Society Sauraha Chitwan, Ramesh Chaudhary was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that the Lamopuchchhare Chanchar bird, previously noticed in Rara, Makalu Barun, Langtang National Park, Annapurna and Kanchenjunga Conservation Area has been found in Sauraha, Chitwan for the first time. With the detection of the bird, Chitwan has now become the habitat of 657 different species of birds.
The bird species which is found at an altitude ranging from 1,500 metres to 4,000 metres had never been detected in Chitwan before. The bird has been reported as a migratory species in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park.
The species of long-tailed thrush are found in Bhutan, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
A large number of tourists come to Chitwan National Park to see the birds as migratory birds come to Nepal from different countries to avoid the chilling cold.
